Your First Visit

Usually, your initial appointment will consist of an examination and a review of your treatment options. In most cases, treatment can be completed or started during the same day as your examination. Some instances, such as a complex medical history or treatment plan, will require an evaluation and a second appointment to begin further treatment.

What to Bring

  • Please bring x-rays taken by a previous dentist, if applicable.
  • A list of medications you are presently taking.
  • If you have dental insurance, bring the necessary completed forms. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.

IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to treatment (i.e., diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are currently taking any medication (i.e., heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.).

Pediatric First Visit

Here at Carmel River Dentistry, we love treating the whole family, including children.  Your child’s first visit to the dentist is an important step in establishing good oral health habits for a lifetime. During your child’s first visit to Carmel River, we will typically begin by reviewing their medical and dental history with you. We will then perform a comprehensive oral exam, which may include a visual examination of your child’s teeth and gums, a check for cavities and other dental problems, and an assessment of your child’s oral hygiene habits. Our dental team will take steps to make your child feel at ease, such as explaining procedures in simple, age-appropriate language and demonstrating dental tools and equipment in a non-threatening way, while promoting a “happy teeth • healthy body” approach.
